Bio - EN

Giorgio Valletta starts as a radio dj in 1984: after collaborating with local Turin stations like Radio Torino Popolare and Radioflash, in 1997 he hosts the first network version of Patchanka (for all Italian stations connected to Popolare Network) and in the two following years he goes on to work for national broadcaster Rai where he shares with Paolo Ferrari the summer seasons of Stereonotte and Boogie Nights, through which he introduces new dance and electronic sounds to the Italian audience.

Currently he runs a show with Enrico Sola, called CasaTorino on Radio Centro 95, while he also continues writing about music on monthly magazine Rumore and for Torinosette, a weekly supplement of newspaper La Stampa.

In 1997 he creates, together with Sergio Ricciardone, a club night called Xplosiva, that since its birth becomes more and more one of the most significant projects in the Italian dance scene.

Run together with promoter Roberto Spallacci, Xplosiva has developed a unique personality and the stubborn will to anticipate contemporary dance music sounds and styles, crossing the seasons of breakbeat and house until the most recent influences of techno, electro, punk-funk and minimal, without ever compromising its own identity.

After having played with Xplosiva in the best Italian clubs and electronic music festivals, in summer 2003 Giorgio Valletta was the only Italian dj playing a set at Barcelona’s notorious Sonar Festival.
And recently Xplosiva has been djing at London’s The End (2005) and for Meganite’s Ibiza summer residency at Privilege, together with Mauro Picotto (August 2006).

Xplosiva has also been organizing for 6 years in Turin the International Festival of Electronic Music and Arts “Club To Club”, which in its latest edition (November 2006) has been connecting with Berlin and the Watergate club.

In 2004 Xplosiva released its first single on Mantra Vibes: “Neoacid” and “Polivox” are the two tracks on the first EP billed as Xplosiva ‘N’ Luca Baldini. The single received significant airplay amongst others by Lottie while hosting BBC Radio 1’s Essential Selection and got support from the likes of Laurent Garnier, Rennie Pilgrem, Justin Robertson, John Digweed, Ashley Beedle. “Polivox” has also been remixed by Madox for its inclusion in compilation “Shakadelic Upgrade”, released in Japan.

After remixing a track for Kiki & Silversurfer and entering the English breaks chart with the Madox remix of “Polivox”, in September 2005 Mantra Vibes released a new “Think Balearic remix” of “Neoacid”, made by Stefano Fontana –one of the best Italian dj/producers, also knows for his Stylophonic project.

The second single by Luca Baldini ‘n’ Xplosiva, titled “Teddybear EP” has been released in October 2005.
Xplosiva ‘N’ Luca Baldini’s “Polivox (Madox remix)” is included on English breaks dj Lee Coombs’ new compilation “The Land Of The Monkey Snake”, out 31st July 2006 on Thrust Recordings.

Finally, out now on Mantra Vibes is a remix of Boosta’s “Dance Is Dead” by Xplosiva vs Boosta.

Giorgio Valletta loves to play eclectic and groovy dj sets, in a quest to erase barriers between different music genres, with a style ranging from the funkiest electro house to new wave and rock influences.
